Aye-Aye Books is a very small independent bookshop that sits within the CCA:Centre for Contemporary Arts on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.

Our aim is to think about the world we live in, how it works, what powers it, who runs it, and how we might need to respond to that.

We are a member of the Alliance of Radical Booksellers

If you are looking for books that aren’t on this site, you can  visit our page on Bookshop.org to buy most books available in the UK. It is a far more ethical alternative to the billionaire-owned website.

Audiobooks
Yes there is a way of buying audiobooks that does not feed the aforementioned billionaire. Libro.fm offers many of the exact same recordings, while distributing a share of its takings to the independent book shops like us. Please have a look at it if that’s your thing.

We aim to put everything on our website. This might take some time.

bookshop.org

In addition to the shop and this website we have a page on bookshop.org, an online bookselling service that was set up to provide a better alternative to the billionaire-owned site that dominates the market. Part of its aim is to create an eco-system in which independent bookshops can thrive. On our page you will find curated lists of books you can buy directly from the site – many of these are books we’d like to have in the shop but don’t have space for. You can also search for any currently available books and your purchase will support us.

History

Aye-Aye Books was originally established in 2007 at Glasgow Sculpture Studios which was at the time located in the Briggait on Bridge Street in Glasgow. Aye-Aye then set up a temporary shop in the foyer of CCA for Glasgow International in 2008, and has been here ever since.

The Aye-Aye logo was drawn by David Mackintosh.
