Oscar Tuazon - Making Books (The Social Life of the Book)
The Social Life of the Book consists of a series of original texts by artists, writers, critics, designers, etc., published on a regular basis, dealing with the book, its uses and the social practices it entices. Each installment is the chapter of a book in progress, and takes the form of a 16 page saddle-stitched pamphlet. The series will be hand-bound annually, into a 192 page volume. The first installment of this project is "Making Books" by Oscar Tuazon. This text recalls the origins of his taste for the book form, through an auto-biographical account of his parent's book-bindery and a further reflection on his sculptural work. Edited by castillo/coralles. Publishing structure and design by Will Holder
